WhatPond Helps Promote the 22nd Annual Secchi Dip-in with Donation
Madison, WI – May 2015 – WhatPond, a leading provider of pond information and tools, is giving back with a donation of ten Compact Secchi Disks to the Secchi Dip-in. The Dip-in is a program of the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) that gathers water quality data from lakes and rivers through the US and Canada. The Dip-in runs annually during Lakes Appreciation Month every July.
Dip-in volunteers use Secchi disks to collect water quality data and enter that data into the Secchi Dip-in database. WhatPond’s Compact Secchi Disks feature a unique foldable design. This feature will make it easy for NALMS to ship to volunteers who don’t have a disk of their own.
“One of our goals at WhatPond is to provide information to help manage your water body,” says founder Darrell Rhoades. “Secchi disks are great tools for monitoring water quality and it fits well with WhatPond’s mission to support the Secchi Dip-in.”
“This gift helps NALMS aid those who want to take part in the Dip-in but don’t have the means to contribute,” says Reed Green, NALMS President. “The more people we have involved, the more data we’ll have to help us understand what is going on within our lakes and ponds.”
